Here is our order:

2. Sailors select D. Hernandez and drop B. Lyon
3. Sounders (from Diamond Cutters) select A. Kennady and drop D. Johnson
4. Bulls select J. Tomlin and drop J. De LaRossa
5. Pirates (from Monsters) select D. Ackley and drop M. Gamel
6. Hitmen select C. Capuano and drop M. Minor
7. Pirates select K. Correia and drop B. Matusz
8. Pirates (from Maccabees (from Hitmen (from Brigade (from Assassins) select M. Adams and drop R. Soriano
9. Brigade selects N. Schierholtz and drops L. Castillo
10. Hitmen (from Maccabees) select D. Holland and drop D. Braden
11. Bombers select C. Carrasco and drop C. Young

Trade #1  Sailors get N. Hundley and B. Lyon to Diamond Cutters for J. Contreras
Trade #2  Huge Trade between Pirates and Monsters: Pirates get J. Damon, Maicer Izturis, Wilson Betemit, Carlos Guillen, R. Soriano and Monster's 5th overall 3rd waiver wire pick in exchange for Matt Holliday, Joe Nathan, B. Wallace, Yuniesky Betancourt, Casey Blake and Kevin Kouzmanoff.
This trade has an out clause where Pirates have a choice to exchange Izturis for C. Johnson if the former is not able to play 2 consecutive games prior to All-Star break. Good luck to both teams.

Waiver Period Trade Fever

At some point in your life as a fantasy player junkie you finally realize that despite some kinks (i know we have arguments over small stuff that get blown out of proportion by our egos and caring about the league) it is true honor and fun to participate in a long standing partial keeper league, that challenges your fantasy GM skills daily. I like to think of PapaBear as a league where if you are good and lucky enough to place in the money, you should feel good about yourself and your skills. I especially like that we have evolved into a partial keeper which makes it even more fun. No matter how you do, you’ll get to keep and manage some players in one form or another.
There are many different approaches a new keeper manager can take when building a competitive team, yet the best way to see any success is by making a game plan and sticking to it. You have to have a strategy. Generally there are only three most common approaches to keeper league strategy.  1. rebuild mode,
2. win now strategy
3. trying to be competitive.
Whatever route you choose, you must remember to stay the course in any and all decisions you make for your team.
At times we found ourselves being pressured by other managers to to trades that might not go along with the strategy you laid out for your team.
Other times we put that Trade Fever Pressure on ourselves and make decisions that could regress our progress towards our goal.
We have seen numerous cases of both in our leagues.

In the Rebuild mode we need to set a time frame of when we think we can win it all. If we are building for more than 2 years out, we are wasting time I think. Things change. And they change fast. In this mode you go for top prospects and the ones on cusp of stardom. Though we should have some vet players to stay competitive on order not to end up in the bottom 3.

In the Win Now mode. You have top producing players, deep bench and it would not hurt if your players are not in the Band Aid Hall of fame club. Risk to win it all are encouraged in this case. You can go for a super star and build around them, but sometimes you just go for a player that provides depth. You do not want to end up losing the season because you do not have a body to plug in later in the season. Because start power alone will not win you Leagues, but Depth will. Does it really matter if you are 4th or 7th, not at all. go for it.

Trying to be competitive mode is the worth of all. Teams in this mode, usually end up with sideways deals that do not push them over to the top and do not allow themselves to stack up on talent.

So whatever you do, lets try not to get carried away with trade fever by losing sight of our strategy.  Lets keep the BIG PICTURE in sight. Maybe I am just trying to feel better about my own moves or maybe i am saying my pick + player not to be named is available for my push in our so competitive league.

Good luck to all.
